Kiddies Korner Playschool
The Kiddies Korner Playschool is a co-operative playschool run by the parents through a volunteer parent executive.
Our goal is for your child to learn to:
Explore and run, share the fun, finish what’s begun, put away when done. Restrict their “No’s”, let their mothers go, and expect what’s so.

PARENTAL DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS
Parents are expected to sign up as PARENT HELPER. The number of times you are a parent helper will be determined based on class sizes. Parent Helpers assist teachers during playschool and help with clean up afterwards. Please note that, during terms with low enrollment, parents may be asked to sign up more frequently. We understand that this may not be possible for all families but remember your child loves having you there! Siblings are welcome to accompany the Parent Helper, provided they do not interfere with the program. Kiddies Korner is a peanut/nut free facility.
Parents with more than one child in playschool are required to volunteer as much for each child.
For more information, please read the following handouts; Role of the Parent Helper and Snack Time.
Fall Registration Fair for 2016/17 Term
We will be at the registration fair again this year in September (September 1, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Community Center). If you have not registered yet or you have any questions please come by. Note: There is a $20 registration fee which is not included in the yearly fees listed above.
Parents are encouraged to keep their children at home if they are displaying any flu like symptoms.
Each year the Kiddies Korner Playschool Fundraising Committee is responsible for raising around $3,000 for our program. Fundraising is an essential part of keeping our program afloat and each year we try to balance the requirements for the parents without burdening them with out of pocket expenses. Since this may be your first experience with fundraising, the Fundraising Committee wants to make sure you are aware of expectations for the year.
2016/2017 It is Kiddies Korner Playschool’s turn to work casino this fall. We will be working the Jackpot Casino in Red Deer Tuesday, November 8 & Wednesday, November 9, 2016. The casino events raise upwards of $20,000, and that money goes towards our rent and other expenses for the next 3 years. Your hotel room for the night, and one meal (during your shift) are covered by Kiddies Korner Playschool. We will have rooms blocked off for Kiddies Korner at one of the hotels in town, and you will be responsible for booking them once you have signed up for your shift. Why not double up with a friend and do some Christmas shopping on your way home!
In addition to our casino, the past couple of years we have had the opportunity to work a few security gigs in our community. Parents are asked to volunteer a few hours out of their day or evening (depending on the event) to work security for events in town. We are responsible for making sure no one takes liquor outside the building, and watching the crowd for potential “rowdy” behavior. We have had great success raising funds for our program, while helping out other community events. It is minimal work on our part, and we have had great feedback from parents in the past years; they are able to listen to great music and enjoy the company of other adults!
The Fundraising Committee will email or will post on the Kiddies Korner Facebook group page any more information, and have a sign-up sheet available in class for parents in September. (Times are first come, first serve.)
All parents are expected to participate in the fundraisers over the year. To keep things fair, Kiddies Korner Playschool requires a post-dated cheque for $200. Once your fundraising requirement is fulfilled, your cheque will be returned to you. If you would rather contribute financially, let the Executive know and we will take you off the “fundraising mailing list”. (Cheques must be submitted no later that Sept. 30, 2016 and postdated to Feb. 1, 2017.)
Without fundraisers, Kiddies Korner Playschool wouldn’t be able to offer the extra creative opportunities, toys, gym equipment and books the children have grown to love (and the parents have come to expect). We thank you for your contribution to “play”.
