 Communities Without Boundaries

How is broadband internet and Alberta's Supernet serving...
  • Economic development
  • Health care
  • Education
  • Quality of rural life
… for rural Alberta

         … for agriculture

                   … for you???

We are focused on delivering real-life, practical benefits to regular, rural Albertans who are broadband users, or to the providers serving them. To do this, we will provide a forum where those involved in the many initiatives underway can share information and initiate joint action.

Our shared vision is that we need to overcome the barriers preventing people taking advantage of broadband applications. We are aware of many fragmented discussions of rural broadband and see the need to merge the many conversations about broadband into a single conversation.

On Friday, October 31, 2008 - participate right here in Hanna with 20 videoconference sites or by webcast.  We will have several presenters address each of the four bulleted topics as listed above, and will offer a panel to address “first/last mile connectivity issues; these are more challenging for rural points than more heavily populated urban centers.

We have made plans to record several of our sessions and plan to make them freely available as soon as possible after the conclusion of our day-long event.

Registration to attend one of our cross-the-province video conference sites is free, but we want to know in advance that you are planning to attend.  Please phone 1-888-854-2099 or visit www.communitieswithoutboundaries.ca.

To learn what the youth of Alberta feels about broadband applications significant to them, we offer a contest—Now, Just a Broadband Minute!  For anyone up to 29 years of age, or a team of youth, we want your vision!  This is an opportunity for a fresh perspective on economic development, health care, education, and/or quality of rural life.  For those who care to enter a competition, we offer a closing date of Oct 16, with judging planned for our October 31 videoconference.  There are additional details at our web site. Enquiries, please email Bill.
